Betsey Lou – Year 5

We have survived 5 years with a daughter!! I would say the next 13 will be interesting – she’s a little spitfire that keeps us on our toes! Its hard to truly round up who you are Betsey Lou – But i will give it a shot.

Girlfriend you are my spirit animal and you know how to SLEEP!! Ugh I’m mainly just jealous. Your bedtime is 8:30 and we just never know when you will wake up but we know it won’t be early! If it is a school morning you are woke up at 7. But if it isn’t – depending if your sister makes a LOUD exit — you wake anywhere from 7:30-9. And man do you come down looking like you don’t want to be awake with you blanket wrapped around you. Never wearing jammies because we figured out if you had jammies that were thick — you would have bad night terrors we could barely get you out of! Once we got that figured out you sleep great at night and we never see you until you wake. We give you a nap maybe once a week because your little body (and attitude!) just needs to catch up. Nana always has you do one at her house.

FOOD – At the end of the year you started to really give me a run for our money about eating supper. — nothing crazy like we always hear about with other people, but often you just don’t want to eat it if its a noodle meal ( but always eats her spaghetti!) But mainly you are a pretty easy eater and usually willing to try new things. Breakfast you are all over the board compared to your brothers. You like cereal some days, freezer waffles, granola bars, toast… just never know what you will want. BUG snack girl that i always have to keep in check. Loves to make her own lunches that are kinda a snack board, does very good at trying whatever Grammy makes for lunch. She loves cottag cheese, applesauce, green beans, corn — pretty much anything mom grows in the garden! fabulous fruit and veggie gal like her siblings. Favorite suppers would be steak, spaghetti, chicken, breakfast for supper ***. Snacking – she will take anything she can get her hands on. chips, popcorn, candy, cookies, a sneaky little gal always looking for something to grab. When it comes to going out to eat she like mc donalds burger and fries and whatever ice cream mom gets.

Where to even start on this girls personality? she is a mama mini me (bless kyle) she is go go go, always talking our head off, lots of personality, and sass. Betsey loves to go on walks with mom, keep up with her brothers, play dolls and house with Faye, and love on her personal baby doll Boone. Loves dad’s attention and makes sure she gets it. Her favorite thing in life right now is school. She has been obsessed since the second she finally got to step foot in there. We hear she is a joy to have in class, always helpful, and knows the answer to everything. A confident girl runs in with her brothers since the first day. Always tells mom ALL about her day which is very welcome after 2 boys i couldn’t get a thing out of, has fabulous memory, knows all her classmates, memorizes the songs after hearing them once, knows how to write her whole alphabet, can count to 100+, loves when Wyatt reads to her class, seeing Grammy at lunch, and seeing the boys and their friends around school.

Girl loves to craft and either wants to do it from a kit or make it up from any trash she can find. Starting to get big into barbies and our generation dolls, plays house with Duke and Faye, loves to be jumping on the couches or flying down the stairs on a blanket with ehr brothers. Loves to shoot hoops, pass the volleyball around with mom, tries to hit off the toss and field with her glove. She played soccer this year for the first time and absolutely destroyed. Only one little boy was better than her on a different team otherwise she would score 8+ goals a game, and we had to work on passing and sharing. She is so cutthroat when they played that team again with the good boy and Kyle told her to stop him from scoring… she proceeded to take him out. We are excited to see if her competitive attitude sticks around. She loves swimming and really took to it this summer! Outside she’s happy to go with mom on her walk, ride her bike for HOURS, learned to drive the go-kart ( which is scary), swim in our little pool, jump on the trampoline for hours with her brothers, draw with chalk, play with reusable water balloons, and help mom in the garden.

She likes to watch Gabby’s dollhouse, whatever movie the boys are into, PBS kids, she got to go to Zootopia an David in the movie theater and loved those. Loves all her cousins on both sides and getting to go to Grammy’s an Nana’s. She lies to make people laugh, love to make her mom say things 4 times before she does it, loves sunday school and singing in church.

Definitely still a girlie girl through and through. has her ears pierced and we change those out about every week, loves makeup and fun outfits, loves to play dress up and Dance when watching DWTS, always whines when mom is braiding or curling her hair but it looks so good, always wants to wear a dress and have a bow in her hair.

You exuberate LIFE and we love you so much.

For your birhtday this year we actually had Christmas at Grammy’s but you took that like a champ. You had me bring a cake and candles so everyone could sing to you. We left there at around 5 and headed home to celebrate you. dad was exhausted so grandparents weren’t allowed to come. We made your favorite meal – steak, homemade potato chips, green beans and applesauce. We sang and had a hawkeye celebration. You got a little stuffed animal in a ball you were dying for, a doctor barbie, diamond art, and a sticker maker. The next night dad was in a bit better of a mood so the grandparents came over and you got a safe from papa terry, string bracelet making set from nana, and tons and tons of barbies from Grammy. You lived up all the love and really rock the Christmas Eve birthday thing!
